1st IKF U15 European Korfball Championship (IKF U15 EKC 2016)

The 1st IKF U15 European Korfball Championship takes place from 10 – 13 August 2016 in Dunakeszi, Hungary.

Maximum 12 national U15 teams compete to become the first Under 15 European Korfball Champion. See under “Events” as well.

U17 Korfball World Cup

The 18th edition of the U17 Korfball World Cup is played from 18 – 20 March 2016 in Sportsvenue Dioscuren in Schijndel, the Netherlands; see more details under Events

The team from the Dominican Republic is new in the line up of teams in the U17 KWC.

Distrito Nacional is first National Champion in Dominican Republic

Distrito Nacional won the first national korfball championship of the Dominican Republic held from September 4-6 2015 in the nation’s Olympic center.To win the title, Distrito Nacional beat in the final Puerto Plate by 23-19 Puerto Plata; the third place went to Provincia Duarte, who won 26-18 over Hato Mayor.At the event, organized by the sports ministry, also participated teams from Peravia province and the Institute of Teacher Education Salomé Ureña (ISFODOSU).

The sports minister Jaime David Fernandez Mirabal said that he intends to continue promoting the sport in all corners of the country. “Korfball is a sport that promotes inclusion and gender equality and we will support as we have done with sports like rugby, handball, hockey and others, fulfilling our primary function in promotion and development”.

Together with the national championship, the first high school championship was held in the same venue.

Korfball in Generation Games as part of Lausanne Olympic Week

Korfball will be featured as part of the program of the Generation Games from 11-15 October in Lausanne, the Olympic Capital. The Games are organized in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee and the City of Lausanne to engage Lausanne citizen in a healthy lifestyle.

The Generation Games organisation is a network of professionals in the field of sport, communication, creative concepts, design, events. The organization works together with several organisations, schools, Universities and internationally operating institutions that share the conviction regarding the importance of stimulating a healthy lifestyle for all ages, through this intergenerational sporting event.

Through this cooperative, cities organising an edition of the Generation Games receive all relevant advice and support. The actual organisation of each edition is the responsibility of a city, based on the concept of the event and guidelines that are provided. Each edition is the result of international co-creation and inspiration.

The latest impression from Jakarta, Indonesia.

After the medal presentations all teams, including the U19 and U16 Korfball4 winners from Chinese Taipei, showed up for a farewell photo.

Chinese Taipei is the great winner in these first Korfball4 Championships in Asia for U19 & U16 teams.

In both age groups the youngsters from Chinese Taipei win the gold medal with clear wins over theire opponents. Congratulations.

The IKF U19 & U16 Korfball4 Championships day 3 results clearly show the development of Asian korfball. The U16 win from MAS (Malaysia) over CHN (China) 4-3 is a surprise based on ranking.

In the U19 Championship TPE (Chinese Taipei) is the favorite to become the first IKF U19 Korfball4 Champion.
