KV Adler Rauxel (GER) is the new Europa Shield champion!

Congratulations to KV ADLER RAUXEL from Germany, new IKF Europa Shield 2018 champion after beating 16-13 the English BEC KC in an incredible and unforgettable final in Portugal.

In the spectacular Multiusos de Odivelas sports hall, both teams showed their best kofball and delighted all fans and supporters with an extraordinary, intense and exciting final match. Nothing was clear until the last seconds. A huge compliment to BEC KC for its Silver medal after playing an awesome and superb tournament.

In the previous Bronze medal game, BRNO KK from Czech Republic defeated the English NORWICH KNIGHTS KC by 12-17, becoming the last team to fill the podium.

IKF Europa Shield 2017 Champion: Bec Korfball Club from England!

The IKF Europa Shield 2017 has its champion: Bec Korfball Club from England!! A golden goal scored by Benjamin King decided today’s final in favour of the English team, beating the German squad of Schweriner KC by 9-10. Congratulations to both teams for this intense and beautiful EShield final.

The Bronze medal game was also decided in the last minutes of an exciting and close game between CRC Quinta dos Lombos and the Catalan CK Montcada. There wasn’t a clear leader during the game, and only in the last part of the match the Portuguese team was able to open a small gap in the scoreboard that allowed them to win the bronze medal.

This intense and exciting last day in Odivelas decided the final ranking of this great IKF EUROPA SHIELD 2017.

Gold medal: Bec Korfball Club (ENG)
Silver medal: Schweriner Korfball Club e.V. ’67 (GER)
Bronze medal: CRC Quinta dos Lombos (POR)
4th place: Club Korfbal Montcada (CAT)
5th place: SG Pegasus Rommerscheid 1991 e.V. (GER)
6th place: Korfbal Club Barcelona (CAT)
7th place: KCC Sokol České Budějovice (CZE)
8th place: Clube Carnaxide Cultura e Desporto (POR)

These fantastic days in Portugal were possible thanks to the hard and good work done by the Local Organizer Committee and all volunteers from NC Benfica, IKF officials, referees, jurys and people from Portuguese Korfball Federation and other local korfball clubs. Thank you all for this huge and fantastic tournament!

UKK WUM Warszawa and 1908 SZAC Budapest banned from international competition next year

Following the late withdrawal of UKK WUM Warszawa at this years IKF Europa Cup final round and 1908 SZAC Budapest at the IKF Europa Shield the IKF Executive Committee has decided that both clubs will not be allowed to represent their country in next years IKF Europa Cup or IKF Europa Shield. The clubs have been banned to take part in any IKF event until 1 July 2018.

Furthermore, a fine has been imposed upon the Polish Korfball Federation (PZKorf) and Hungarian Korfball Association (HKA) of 1,000 euros in line with the IKF disciplinary procedures 2015. Under the IKF Regulations, a national federation is responsible for any acts of its members with regard to IKF competitions.

This decision follows the stricter line that was announced clearly during last IKF Congress in 2015, Antwerp (Belgium). Late withdrawals leave the IKF and Local Organiser Committee with both organisational and financial problems. Apart from the negative publicity for the specific tournament and korfball in general.
